Some of the design work for the Soul Mates in Lords of the Forest.

Three of my costume designs were chosen to be used for the avatars in the demo for Lords of the Forest and then made in several different colours themed around the four elements, as well as a few more neutral colours so the player can mix and match them.

Some of the design work for some of the female avatar costumes in Lords of the Forest. The idea was took look at clothing from around the 1930’s - 50’s (roughly) and add in little fantasy / more modern elements.

Juliana and Felicia; two of Robert’s characters for Lords of the Forest. Two sisters who are psychics and stylists. Presumably that’s a fairly underpopulated venn diagram…

Felicia can be painfully honest but Juliana tends to be much sweeter.

More work for Lords of the Forest.

The player starts off in this area. They get an introduction to the world and decide the abilities and appearance of their avatar.

The idea is that the different elements relate to a different quality that could be said to define a strong person or role model. The element you choose will give you a starting boost in stats for abilities that will embody these qualities. Similar to how in other MMOs you can choose what qualities you think will make a good warrior; stealth, defense, speed..

Air; creativity, freedom, ingenuity.
Fire; drive, desire, force.
Water; compassion, generosity, love
Earth; beauty, poise, intellect.

Okay. So for the past few months I’ve been working with Robert Levin from Oak Bridge Media on a project called Lords of the Forest.

The game is supposed to be aimed at teenage girls who want something a little darker and mystical. Like twilight fans, Robert says. He was working with his daughter, an artist who’s into that sort of thing. But she’s at college so Phil Goddard, someone I’d worked with before, did an awesome job of putting me in touch with Robert and I’ve been doing most of the visuals since then.

This is a character called Noha. She’s a witch who’s grown tiered of the limits of her powers and living under the Lords. She’s found ways to augment her abilities that aren’t really legal in the world of Lords of the forest.

I moved on from the original artist’s design (reproduced on the bottom right) to something that fitted more into Robert’s idea of a glamorous fairy tale.
